Secondary Life Skills
Secondary Life Skills is an exciting program for 18-21 year old special education students. This program is designed to push students to live as independently as possible. Secondary Life Skills is connected with the Vocational Program. Students that attend also have a job through the Vocational Program.
There are many things that we do during our day. We do independent cooking and cleaning. Students work on real life math and reading assignments and plan bus routes. Outings to various locations are a fun part of our day and students work on getting there independently.
We also work on school, work, and community safety. There are a lot of discussions about boundaries and what behavior is acceptable with the people we know. We do the Circles Curriculum that focuses on teaching boundaries and the Mike's Crush curriculum which focuses on developing healthy, appropriate relationships.
